MINECRAFT SCIENCE CLUB - April Who: ages 6 to 12 When: Saturdays 11:30am - 12:30pm April 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th $99 per student, space is limited BEGINNERS WELCOME!
A fun way to introduce chemistry to younger students! All students will build their own research facilities and chemistry laboratories! Then, we will dive into unique chemistry experiments and challenges. Students will take home Chemistry Lab Journals including periodic table sheets and instructions for turning on the hidden chemistry blocks at home in Minecraft! They will have access to a Minecraft Education account to safely use at home for the entire month of April.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THIS CLUB? During this 4-week club, students will: — tackle projects individually and in small groups — compete in friendly build battles — discover the value of working in a supportive community — how to communicate effectively and receive feedback
1. Chemistry Concepts: Understand objects are all made of elements. Discover the elemental composition of Minecraft blocks. Understand that some elements are more common than others Understand that atoms are composed of neutrons, protons and electrons. Understand that elements are defined by the number of protons in their nucleus.
2. Problem Solving and running through the "design cycle" (brainstorm-plan-test-make adjustments-repeat)
3. Teamwork! In addition to their own personal projects, students will work in both small and large teams to achieve goals!
